The closer the hole size, the more difficult and expensive the process is. Dependent on the material type, smaller hole size to material ratios can be achieved. Pattern: We have tooling available for many different hole patterns and shapes. It is more economical to choose one of the available patterns, although special hole sizes and patterns can be accommodated at additional cost. Pitch: Hole center is the distance from the center of one hole to the center of the nearest hole in the next adjoining row. Open area: Open area is the total area of the holes divided by the total area of the sheet and is expressed as a percent. Keep in mind that punching holes in a material add stresses that can result in distortion of the product. The higher the open area, the more material distortion takes place, especially when the perforated pattern is bordered by margins on all four sides. But these distortions can be removed by our special in house leveling process. Usage: 1. Safety Perforated metal is mainly used in highway guardrail, sports field fence, the road green belt protection, fencing of the agricultural test sites and screening of small ore, etc. It is firm, durable, and easy for maintenance and it has good visibility and beautiful colors. 2. Guard for Machinery and Electrical Appliances With good permeability, perforated metal is generally used in electrical and mechanical equipment shielding, at the same time, it allows good ventilation and cooling and easy observation. It is also used for guarding of shredders, harvesters, ventilation cages as well as various machinery and equipment. 3. Filtration Perforated metal can be used in filters to support the filter media. It can be processed into the forms of tube, cylinder, and sheet and conical as filter mesh, filter cartridge, cylinder or filters for filtration in petroleum, chemical, food and pharmacy, etc.
